The Chapter 1 backgrounders are the backgrounders who originated in the Chapter 1 portion of the cartoon series, as well as the backgrounders that originated in younger volumes but that possess a design based on a Chapter 1 backgrounder. Chapter 1 backgrounders are, obviously, the oldest of the backgrounders, filling up the halls of Ever After High since the very start. They are recognizable for their conservative appearance. That is, there is roughly one body build for boys and one for girls, but the franchise also produces creature body builds.

With the transition to Chapter 2 and further, a few Chapter 1 backgrounders have been dropped from the series, as new backgrounders with better designs and additional characters have been introduced that make for more appealing appearances in the Ever After High halls.

Glasses girl[]

The World of Ever After High - glasses and red hair

The glasses girl has light skin, short brown hair with several green streaks and dark purple lips. She wears glasses, a light green hair band and matching "leaf" leg warmers to go with her black shirt and purple vest as well as her black skirt with double-colored green wrap and brown belt. She wears dark brown heels. She is based on a Guru Studio employee.[1]

Red-haired girl[]

The World of Ever After High - glasses and red hair

The red-haired girl has pale skin, red hair and red lips. She wears a blue crown to match her dress with a blue top and white pattern skirt, silver tights and blue platform shoes. She supports Apple as royal council president in "Maddie-in-Chief".

Girl-in-white[]

Raven's Tale - gold and feathers

The girl-in-white has dark skin and brown hair. She wears an all white outfit consisting of a headband, dress, and tights; she has brown sandals to match. She sits on the Rebel side during Legacy Day in "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel" and attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal" and "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel".

The girl-in-gray has pale skin, brown hair, silver eyes and peach lips. She wears a silver hair bow with a matching dress and necklace. She occasionally hangs out with Hopper.

Girl-in-orange[]

Raven's Tale - orange-haired girl

The orange-haired girl has light skin, orange hair and red lips. She wears a green, lime green, blue and teal dress with a brown belt and light green tights; her shoes are brown with green laces. She attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal". In "Stark Raven Mad", she attends Muse-ic class. She supports Madeline as royal council president in "Maddie-in-Chief".

Girl-in-blue-and-purple[]

Maddie-in-Chief - purple backgrounder

The girl-in-blue-and-purple has dark skin, brown hair, blue eyes and purple lips. She wears a white crown with a blue and purple puffy dress with a fur collar and matching fur bracelets. She also wears a necklace with red gems and has purple tights and shoes. She was designed by Alina Urusov.[2] According to Scott W. Forbes she was meant to be the original daughter of Beauty or the Beast.[3]

Girl-in-blue-and-yellow[]

She has tan skin and long brown hair. She wears a blue hair clip with a blue and gold dress and matching gold heels. She attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal" and "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel".

Aquamarine-haired girl[]

She has pale skin, aquamarine hair, purple eyes and light pink lips. She wears a pink and white polka-dot dress with a black fur coat. She sits on the Royal side during Legacy Day in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal" and attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal" and "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel". She supports Madeline as royal council president in "Maddie-in-Chief".

Violet-haired girl[]

She has pale skin, purple and pink hair, blue eyes and light red lips. She wears a black hair bow with a matching bow on her white dress with black on the skirt, she also wears dark gray tights over her gold heels. She attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal" and sits on the Rebel side in "The Tale of Legacy Day". Her design is based on Raechel Dickey, the 2D rigging supervisor.[4]

Gray-haired girl[]

She has tan skin, silver hair and light pink lips. She wears an orange hair clip with a matching orange and yellow dress with white puff sleeves and black trim on the skirt, she also has silver tights and white heels. She sits on the Rebel side during Legacy Day in "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel" and attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal". In "Stark Raven Mad", she attends Muse-ic class. She supports Apple as royal council president in "Maddie-in-Chief". According to Scott W. Forbes she was meant to be the original Beast from Beauty and The Beast.

Yellow-and-purple-haired girl[]

She has dark skin, layered yellow and purple hair tied in two buns, brown eyes and dark lips. She wears silver earrings, her top has a purple hood with a blue bow, and her shirt is plain with a gray-blue color, and in the center has a white layer. Her skirt is pale pink with strawberry patterns on it. She helps organize the talent show in "Rebel's Got Talent".

Girl in brown[]

She has light skin, layered blonde hair, blue eyes and light pink lips. She wears a yellow hair tie and a gold necklace, her dress is made up of a black shirt with white layered sleeves and a brown skirt. She attends Jack B. Nimble's class in "Cedar Wood Would Love to Lie" and is on the Royal side in "The Tale of Legacy Day". She is based on a Guru Studio employee.[1]

Girl-in-red-and-black[]

She has light skin, chin-length red and black hair, and black attire. She wears a casual black top and a thin skirt layer over her gray tights and short black boots. She is on the Rebel side in "The Tale of Legacy Day". She is based on a Guru Studio employee.[1]

He has light skin and brown hair. He wears red glasses, though he's sometimes drawn without them, and a blue shirt with a black and red coat, tan pants and matching brown shoes. In "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel", he tries to give Apple a flower, but crushes on the gray-haired girl since "Here Comes Cupid". He supports Madeline as royal council president in "Maddie-in-Chief". He was designed by Alina Urusov.[5]

Curly-haired boy[]

He has light skin, brown hair pulled off to one side and silver eyes. He wears black glasses and a striped white and black shirt over a red jacket with a crown on it. He sits on the Royal side during Legacy Day in "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel" and attends the Legacy Day rehearsal in "Apple's Tale: The Story of a Royal" and "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel". He is designed after the art director W. Scott Forbes, whose twin brother also has been translated into a backgrounder.[6]

Skater boy[]

He has light skin, brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a red beanie, a white shirt under a dark brown jacket, and gray pants; his shoes are brown. Rarely, he is drawn with glasses on. He sits on the Rebel side during Legacy Day in "Raven's Tale: The Story of a Rebel". He resembles Hunter Hunstman
